Whilst visiting the BeesBoer family in Indwe I'm half embarrassed to say that I reversed into a netball pole. Bent both the pole (that was deeply sunk into concrete) and the back left fender on my truck. Not nice and the damage to the fender was quite bad but it totalled the whole indicator lens.
First lesson. After finding out what the stealers wanted for the lens Henk managed to track down a pirate unit at Midas in Queenstown for under R250.00. Henk fitted it so that I could legally drive back home.
Second lesson. I want to change Insurance and really didn't want to claim as this accident would cost us in the long term. I nevertheless took the truck to a regular panebeater to find out what it would cost and didn't much like the answer.
A friend recommended a local that works from home. Always a risk as I had a really bad experience with another local that works out of his car and comes to the client.
I don't hesitate NOT to recommend Mr Rust. He merely filled everything up with body filler which is subsequently falling out and is going to have to be redone. The job was rushed and extremely sloppy. Some guys should have to prove that they can before being allowed to buy panelbeating equipment.
I got my truck back last night and WHAT a difference. You really can't even see that it has been damaged. Same panel that has been pulled straight and sorted out. Second prize... Mark gets to re-do what Mr Rust couldn't. School fees that I paid that maybe I can save other IOC members from paying.
Bottom line is that we all put our trucks on the line for damage when we go off road and sometimes that damage just can't be helped. Now that I know we in Cape Town have Mario for the mechanical stuff and Mark to pretty up the outside, I feel better about those small dings and dents.
Thanks Mark. If you don't get any business from this, you certainly will have MY business from now on.
For those who would like to make use of Mark's services, his details are:
Mark Cornick cell number Oh ate three 7 ate fore zero 410. |
